Dear Colleagues and Friends,

After four successful meetings in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 we had foreseen to organize the celebratory fifth edition of the Belgian Peptide Group Meeting (BPGM) as a bi-national event together with our colleagues of the Groupe Français des Peptides et des Protéines (GFPP) in 2020. The pandemic suspended our plans, but now we are happy to announce that a joint GFPP-BPGM meeting is set to take place in Port-Leucate, France, from May 29th till June 3rd 2022.

The meeting, themed « Peptides and Proteins without Frontiers”, will allow to renew with our biannual meeting tradition, and allow to reconnect within and between our respective communities in a single place. This meeting is expected to be again a great success, bringing together for the first time the Belgian and French communities in the field. The timing of the meeting and siting in Port-Leucate has been chosen so as to allow to meet under conditions that permit to handle the current health situation under the best possible circumstances, should this still prevail.

We have gathered a rich program of plenary speakers, spanning cutting-edge topics in the peptide and protein science fields. Moreover, this event will give additional opportunities to academic and industrial scientists to exchange through a special Biotech session, followed by a round table discussion. Furthermore, we particularly welcome oral communications from young scientists, with 30 grants provided by both societies for young investigators to cover their registration fees.

We invite all our Belgian Peptide Group Meeting colleagues and friends to actively participate with their group members to this meeting. Further details regarding the scientific program, registration fees, accommodation, etc. will be made available in good order on the conference website, which we invite you to visit regularly. The confirmed plenary speakers have set the tone of this exciting conference to come.

We do hope that we will meet very soon under auspicious circumstances!

Steven Ballet, Annemieke Madder, Dirk Tourwé & José Martins
